چکیده

The paper presents an introduction to W3C's Simple Knowledge Organisation System (SKOS) , an RDF Schema designed to represent and share controlled vocabularies, such as classifications, glossaries, and thesauri, more simply than ontology languages.

Key choices in the design of Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS)

Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) provides a data model and vocabulary for expressing Knowledge Organization Systems (KOSs) such as thesauri and classification schemes in Semantic Web applications. This paper presents the main components of SKOS and their formal expression in Web Ontology Language (OWL), providing an extensive account of the design decisions taken by the Semantic Web ...

A Flexible API and Editor for SKOS

This poster presents a programmatic interface (SKOS API) and plugin for Protégé 4 for editing and working with the Simple Knowledge Organisation System (SKOS). The SKOS API has been designed to work with SKOS models at a high level of abstraction to aid developers of applications that use SKOS. We discuss SKOSEd, a tool for authoring and editing SKOS artefacts. A key aspect to the design of the...

Developing a web-based SKOS editor

BACKGROUND The Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) was introduced to the wider research community by a 2005 World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) working draft, and further developed and refined in a 2009 W3C recommendation. Since then, SKOS has become the de facto standard for representing and sharing thesauri, lexicons, vocabularies, taxonomies, and classification schemes. In this paper, we...

Exploring and Exploiting(?) the Awkward Connections Between SKOS and OWL

In the Semantic Web, the Web Ontology Language (OWL) vocabulary is used for the representation of formal ontologies, while the Simple Knowledge Organisation System (SKOS) is a vocabulary designed for thesauri or concept taxonomies without formal semantics. Despite their different nature, on the Web these two vocabularies are often used together. Here, we try to explore and exploit the joint usa...

Analysing Syntactic Regularities in Ontologies

Syntactic regularities are repetitive structures of axioms in the asserted form of an ontology. The Regularity Inspector for Ontologies (RIO) is a framework for detecting such regularities in ontologies using cluster analysis. Detection of syntactic regularities can be used to identify parts of an ontology that have a similar syntactic structure, and could therefore provide an intuition of thei...
